Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Car on Highway 198 in Visalia

 
VISALIA, CA (July 13, 2022) – A man was killed in a bicycle accident on Highway 198 in Visalia on Tuesday morning, July 12.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 5:00 a.m. near Ben Maddox Way. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding his bike on the highway when a Kia Optima struck him from behind.
 
Emergency crews arrived soon after and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the Kia remained on the scene.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
