Bicyclist Dies after Hit by Car on Almaden Expressway in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (February 14, 2022) – A man died in bicycle accident at Almaden Expressway and Foxworthy Avenue on Thursday evening.
The accident happened around 8:26 p.m. on February 10. According to the San Jose Police Department, a 2013 BMW sedan was traveling south on Almaden Expressway in one of the middle lanes when it struck the man riding a bicycle westbound across the intersection in the crosswalk.
Paramedics arrived soon after and rushed the man to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will identify the man once his next of kin is notified.
The driver of the BMW stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. Video evidence and witness statements indicate the driver had a green light at the intersection.
Police also do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
