Man Injured in San Diego Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 163
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 27, 2022) — A man suffered serious injuries in a wrong-way accident on Highway 163 near University Avenue on Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, a woman in a GMC Sierra entered the southbound highway at University Avenue in the wrong direction. Subsequently, her wrong-way truck collided with a Honda CRV head-on.
Soon after, paramedics rushed the Honda driver to Scripps Mercy Hospital with major injuries.
Meanwhile, paramedics brought the woman to the hospital, who reportedly began hyperventilating after the accident.
