Man Hospitalized in Santa Rosa Scooter Crash on Highway 12

 
SANTA ROSA, CA (July 2, 2021) — A man suffered major injuries in a scooter accident on Highway 12 at Highway 101 early Thursday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the scooter crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, the 51-year-old Santa Rosa man entered the freeway in his 2006 JMStar 150cc scooter yet collided with a white Nissan pickup.
 
Per news reports, the scooter was traveling about 40 miles per hour as it tried to make a lane change seconds before the impact. As a result of the crash, the unidentified man flew from his scooter and landed in the No. 2 lane.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan left the scene. Soon after, paramedics arrived and transported the victim to Santa Rosa Memorial hospital with critical injuries.
 
At this time, authorities need witnesses’ help in locating the driver of the Nissan. Therefore, anyone with more information should contact the CHP.
