Pedestrian Suffers Multiple Fractures after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Second Avenue in Cortez

CORTEZ, CA (December 21, 2022) – A man was injured in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash on Second Avenue in the Cortez neighborhood Saturday morning.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a 36-year-old man was standing on the painted double yellow roadway divider on the 1600 block of Second Avenue a little before 10:00 a.m. A 2013 Hyundai sedan was traveling south on the road when the pedestrian stepped in front of it.

The Hyundai then struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

First responders took the pedestrian to a hospital in an area hospital for treatment of a fractured left clavicle and multiple facial fractures.

Police later found the Hyundai’s driver and questioned and released him. Alcohol was not a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.
