Man Suffered Fractures after Pedestrian Accident on South 16th Street and National Avenue

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 22, 2021) — A 53-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a pedestrian accident on South 16th Street.
 
San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said the crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19. A 23-year-old man driving a Ford Fiesta hit the pedestrian while turning from South 16th Street onto National Avenue. The incident happened near the dividing line between the East Village and Barrio Logan neighborhoods.
 
Police said the driver traveled north on 16th Street and had just turned left onto National Avenue.  Then he crossed a double-yellow line and hit the pedestrian who walked in a left turn lane on National Avenue.
 
The victim suffered skull fractures, a fracture of the upper bone in one of his arms, and a brain bleed. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital with critical injuries.
 
No other details were immediately available Tuesday night.
