Man Hurt after Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 near Petaluma Boulevard North

 
PETALUMA, CA (November 23, 2021) — A man sustained injuries in a pedestrian accident on Highway 101 on Saturday, November 20.
 
According to the Santa Rosa CHP, officers responded to the incident on southbound 101 near Petaluma Boulevard North at about 11:34 p.m.
 
Officials received reports of a man walking in the slow lane. Then a passing car struck the man.
 
First responders arrived at the area and discovered the man in the road. According to CHP officials, it was a Toyota RAV4 moving southbound that hit the man. The vehicle then stopped and waited for officials to arrive.
 
Officers said the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash.
 
Medics rushed the pedestrian to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
 
Authorities closed the highway lanes while officers stayed at the scene.
 
CHP said that a driver, who was stuck in the backed-up traffic, passed out while driving. Officials arrested this driver for DUI and booked him into the Sonoma County Jail.
