Man Hurt, Off-Duty Officer Detained in Ventura County DUI ATV Crash near Guiberson Road

 
VENTURA COUNTY, CA (February 10, 2022) — A man suffered injuries and an off-duty officer faces charges in a DUI ATV accident near Guiberson Road and Torrey Canyon Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the off-road crash happened around 5:11 a.m. on January 30. For DUI-related reasons, an off-duty deputy with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office caused an all-terrain vehicle crash.
 
Responding officers found an overturned turned Polaris RZR all-terrain vehicle in the field and its 54-year-old male passenger with severe head injuries. Subsequently, paramedics brought the unidentified victim to a nearby hospital for care. However, reports included no information on his current condition.
 
As for the 46-year-old off-duty deputy operating the ATV, he stayed at the scene. Following the investigation, CHP officials arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
 
At this time, the crash requires additional investigation. However, anyone with information should reach out to the CHP.
