Police Arrest Drunk Driver after Injuring Pedestrian on Newhall Avenue

 
NEWHALL, CA (May 28, 2023) – A man putting air into his tires was injured after a drunk driver hit his car in Newhall Wednesday evening on May 24.
 
The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. at the Chevron Gas Station in the 20500 block of Newhall Avenue. According to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, 32-year-old Andres Martinez from Canyon Country was driving a white Ford F150. He backed up into a man who was putting air in the vehicle’s tire, causing the victim’s vehicle to move and hit the victim.
 
Paramedics immediately responded and took the man to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
Police said Martinez displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. They arrested and booked him into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for felony DUI with injury.
 
An investigation is underway.
