Man Struck, Killed by Driver on Waring Road On-Ramp in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 28, 2022) — A man was hit and killed by a car on the Waring Road on-ramp at the 8 Freeway Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 3:15 p.m. Under unclear circumstances, a 27-year-old woman driving a white Mercedes-Benz suddenly spotted a 57-year-old man walking westbound from the Waring Road on-ramp.
 
Subsequently, she applied her brakes. However, a Chevrolet SUV trailing behind her rear-ended her Mercedes, causing the SUV to overturn and hit the male pedestrian.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at a local hospital while the Chevrolet driver sustained minor wounds. As for the Mercedes-Benz driver, she reported no injuries in the crash.
 
At this time, authorities do not know if DUI played a factor. However, an investigation into the outstanding details should confirm more information.
