Missing Fremont Man Dies in Rollover Accident off Calaveras Road in Alameda County
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA (March 24, 2021) – A young Fremont man died in a rollover accident off Calaveras Road Saturday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m. on February 27, CHP received a report of the accident near the Sunol Regional Wilderness.
A bicyclist who had stopped on the shoulder near Welch Creek Road saw a gray Toyota Camry upside down about 100 feet below the roadway.
The Alameda County Fire Department responded and found the driver dead in the car.
CHP officials only identified the driver as a 19-year-old student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. They said the victim was last seen by his family in Fremont on February 21. He had reportedly gone out to buy dog food that evening and never returned.
There were no skid marks where the car left the roadway, the CHP said. The crash site is about a 20-mile drive from the victim’s home.
Officials asked witnesses to call the Dublin CHP office at (925) 828-0466.
