Worker Dies after Tree Falls on Thorn Lane near Del Dios Road in Escondido

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (May 23, 2022) – A man was fatally crushed by a fallen tree on Thorn Lane in northern San Diego County on Friday afternoon, May 20.
 
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a call around 4:21 p.m. from people who were working on cutting down a tree in the 9700 block of Thorn Lane.
 
The location was a short residential street between Del Dios Road Lake Drive along the western shoreline of Lake Hodges.
 
When authorities arrived at the scene, the worker already died.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health will be handling the investigation along with the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
