Man Dead in San Jose Solo-Car Crash on 880 Freeway

 
SAN JOSE, CA (July 1, 2021) — A man died in a solo-car accident on the 880 Freeway near Bascom Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly single-vehicle accident happened around 4:15 p.m. For unknown reasons, a man about 50 to 60 years old driving a Mazda3 was speeding on the freeway. Soon after, the Mazda crashed into a concrete barrier separating the southbound on- and off-ramps and overturned.
 
As a result of the crash, the driver of the vehicle died at the scene.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the crash. However, they encourage anyone with more information to contact the CHP.
