Man Killed in San Ysidro Solo-Car Accident on 5 Freeway

 
SAN YSIDRO, CA (May 24, 2021) — A man died in a solo-car accident on the 5 Freeway near Camino De La Plaza Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened around 2:00 a.m. near the US-Mexico border. For unclear reasons, a 27-year-old San Diego man driving a 2014 Ford Mustang on the southbound freeway struck a concrete barrier.
 
Due to the force of the crash, the man suffered fatal injuries and died either at the scene or a hospital.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the collision or if DUI played a role. However, those with additional information on this car accident on the 5 Freeway should contact the CHP.
