Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 65

 
WHEATLAND, CA (September 21, 2021) — A man died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 65 near Dry Creek Levee Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 10 around 11:35 p.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a 2016 Ford Fusion heading southbound struck a male pedestrian. Immediately after, the driver pulled over and contacted emergency authorities.
 
Subsequently, First Responders arrived to provide life-saving efforts, but efforts fell short and the man died.
 
In the investigation, detectives learned that he had been wearing dark clothes and walking in a poorly lit area of the road prior to the accident.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the liabilities or the ultimate cause of the crash. However, they have ruled out DUI as a possible source.
