Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 14 in Newhall

 
NEWHALL, CA (July 17, 2023) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 14 near Sand Canyon Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian crash happened around 8:00 p.m. Saturday. For an unknown reason, a 57-year-old Sylmar man standing on the shoulder next to a parked vehicle walked into oncoming traffic. Subsequently, a Freightliner heading northbound struck the pedestrian.
 
The unidentified victim suffered fatal injuries in the incident. At the time of the accident, it was unclear if either of the involved parties consumed alcohol or drugs. However, CHP traffic investigators will identify the leading cause.
