Man Dead in Pinole Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway

 
PINOLE, CA (September 30, 2021) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on the 80 Freeway near Richmond Parkway Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 8:54 p.m. For unknown reasons, an unidentified man was walking on the interstate. Soon after, a Toyota heading west in the No. 2 lane struck the pedestrian, despite efforts to evade the imminent crash.
 
Shortly after, authorities responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
At this time, authorities have ruled out DUI as a possible source on the driver’s part. However, they have yet to determine if the pedestrian was impaired at the time.
