Cyclist Killed, Motorcyclist Crashes into Bike on Carlsbad Boulevard in Carlsbad

 
CARLSBAD, CA (August 16, 2022) — A man died after a motorcyclist crashed into a bicyclist on Carlsbad Boulevard near Palomar Airport Road.
 
According to the Carlsbad Police Department, the fatal bicycle accident happened around 1:00 p.m. on Monday. For unknown reasons, a California State Parks officer attempted to pursue a 28-year-older motorcyclist for driving at excessive speeds.
 
During the chase, the motorcycle rider and his 22-year-old female passenger crashed into a man riding a bicycle at the ocean front intersection.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the cyclist suffered fatal injuries. His name has yet to be released.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and brought the motorcycle rider and his female passenger to a hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
 
At this time, an investigation into this crash should confirm any unclear details, including any pursuit policy issues and criminal charges.
