Man Killed in Julian Motorcycle Accident on Highway 79
JULIAN, CA (August 9, 2021) — A man died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 79 near KQ Ranch RV Resort Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the chain-reaction crash happened around 1:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, the 33-year-old allowed his 2008 Harley-Davidson Dyna Glide to veer into southbound traffic.
There, his northbound Harley crashed into a southbound 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, sending the motorcycle into a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by a 62-year-old Arizona woman. To add to the accident, a northbound 2016 Harley-Davidson struck the debris on the road, sending its rider, a 57-year-old Oceanside man, onto the road.
Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and transported the Volkswagen driver to Palomar Medical Center with minor injuries. No one else sustained any wounds in the crash. However, the motorcyclist operating the 2008 Harley-Davidson died at the scene. His name has not been released.
At this time, investigators have not confirmed the ultimate cause. However, if anyone has more information on this crash, please contact the CHP.
