Man Killed in Watsonville Head-On Crash on Highway 129

WATSONVILLE, CA (November 23, 2021) — A man died in a head-on accident on Highway 129 at Highway 1 on Saturday, November 20.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-car crash happened around 2:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 20-year-old behind the wheel of a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier heading westbound crossed over the double yellow lines.
 
Subsequently, an eastbound driver in a 2000 Ford Freestar spotted the vehicle and attempted to steer out of the way to avoid the crash. However, the Chevrolet driver did the same and both vehicles crashed head-on.
 
Soon after, paramedics brought the 27-year-old Hollister man and 19-year-old Hollister man in the Ford to an out-of-county trauma center for treatment of moderate injuries. Unfortunately, the Chevrolet driver suffered fatal wounds at the scene.
 
At this time, CHP officers have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the crash. However, anyone with more information should contact the authorities.
