Car Catches Fire in Fatal Accident on 805 Freeway at University Avenue in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 13, 2022) – Police confirmed that one person died in a fiery car accident on southbound 805 Freeway on July 12.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at University Avenue shortly after 2:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, a car slammed into the center divider of the freeway. Subsequently, the impact ejected the driver from the vehicle before it caught fire.
 
As a result, the driver died at the scene. CHP officers only identified him as a 24-year-old man from Chula Vista.
 
In addition, the fatal crash closed four lanes of the freeway while authorities responded to the scene. In the end, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and crews cleaned up the debris afterward.
