Driver Killed in DUI Crash on Edinger Avenue in Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (February 12, 2024) — A man died in a DUI 2-car accident on Edinger Avenue near Edwards Street.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the two-car crash happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday. For DUI reasons, a Chevy Silverado driving behind a Toyota Prius in the same lane slammed into the rear of the Toyota at a high rate of speed.
As a result, the Toyota driver suffered serious injuries in the accident. Soon after, paramedics responded and took him to a hospital, where he passed away. Authorities did not release his name.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old driving the Silverado fled the scene but was apprehended by law enforcement officials not long after. Authorities subsequently arrested him on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
