Man Killed in 2-Car Crash on Highway 101 in Crescent City

 
CRESCENT CITY, CA (February 27, 2023) — A man died in a 2-car accident on Highway 101 near Elk Valley Cross Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle collision happened around 4:49 p.m. Wednesday. For possible weather-related reasons, a 61-year-old man driving a southbound 1997 Toyota 4Runner lost control of his vehicle. Subsequently, the car entered the northbound lane and struck the right side of a 2013 Chevy Avalanche driven by a 72-year-old woman.
 
The 61-year-old man perished in the accident. Officials haven’t released his name pending notification of family members. The 72-year-old woman suffered major injuries and was brought to a hospital for care. Meanwhile, Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, National Park Service and other officials responded to tend to the crash.
 
During the investigation, CHP officers confirmed that inclement weather played a factor in the accident. No other information surrounding what led to the crash was available. Although, if anyone has more news on this fatal crash, please connect with the CHP.
