Man Killed, Woman Hospitalized in 3-Car Accident on Highway 101

 
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (December 13, 2021) — A man died in a 3-car crash on Highway 101 near Petaluma Boulevard on Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-car accident happened around 5:44 p.m. Under unclear circumstances, a Chevrolet Silverado carrying an elderly man and a female passenger collided with a Ford F-250 that either slowed or stopped for traffic ahead.
 
Soon after, a Nissan Quest minivan collided with the two trucks and the highway’s center median.
 
As a result of the accident, the elderly man in the Chevy Silverado suffered fatal injuries and his female passenger was brought to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries. Meanwhile, the lone drivers of the two other cars escaped injury.
 
At this time, authorities have not released information on the ultimate cause of the crash. However, speed may have played a factor. Anyone with additional information should contact the CHP.
