Man Fatally Struck by Tesla Car in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 near Teague Avenue

 
GREENFIELD, CA (December 20, 2022) — A 26-year-old King City man died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 101 on Saturday, December 17.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a Tesla Model 3 drove southbound on Highway 101 south of Teague Avenue at 70 mph. Then he struck the man shortly after 9:30 p.m.
 
Investigators said the driver stopped and saw the damage on his car on the right-side mirror and right front fender. After that, the driver checked his onboard video recorder and noticed he struck a man. He dialed 911 and waited for paramedics to arrive.
 
CHP said the video from the vehicle showed that a man ran towards the Tesla. The man waved his arms above his head erratically before the incident.
 
An EMS crew tried to save the man’s life. However, he died of his sustained injuries on the scene. Officials have not released his identity.
 
The CHP said they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
 
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
