Man Dead, Children Hurt in Solo-Car Crash on Highway 70

 
OLIVEHURST, CA (December 15, 2021) — A man died, and children were injured in a solo-car accident on Highway 70 near McGowan Parkway on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-car crash happened around 2:20 p.m.
 
As a Loma Rica man drove north in a 2005 Jeep, he began reaching speeds of about 100 miles per hour. Due to his unsafe speed and wet road conditions, the Jeep veered off the road and struck a dirt barrier. Subsequently, the Jeep rolled over several times, ejecting the male driver after having not properly worn a seatbelt.
 
The driver, who authorities say was the father of two of the children, he died at the scene.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded to find a 10-year-old, a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old and brought them to UC Davis Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.
 
Authorities have not released the 46-year-old’s name.
