Man Killed, 8 Hurt in Head-On Accident on Highway 129 in Santa Cruz County

 
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA (June 23, 2022) — One man died and eight people were injured in a head-on crash on Highway 129 at Old Chittenden Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. For unknown reasons, a man driving eastbound in a Honda Ridgeline pickup veered over the double yellow lines.
 
Subsequently, the Honda crashed head-on into a westbound Chevy Silverado pickup towing a 30-foot travel camper.
 
As a result of the crash, one person riding inside the Honda died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics responded and treated eight other people with unknown wounds.
 
At this time, investigators have not confirmed whether alcohol played a factor. However, an ongoing investigation should clarify more details.
