Man Arrested after DUI Police Chase on Alameda Avenue Involving Stolen Police Vehicle

BURBANK, CA (February 8, 2021) — A man under the influence stole a police parking enforcement car and led a police chase on Alameda Avenue.

The incident began around 6:25 p.m. on Thursday, February 4. A couple of parking supervisors conducted a parking investigation in the Rancho Marketplace Shopping Center on Alameda Avenue and Main Street.

Burbank police Lt. Derek Green said that a man got into their marked vehicle and stole it starting the pursuit. Police believe the man was intoxicated.

Police caught up with it in Glendale, and the police chase went back through Burbank and into the San Fernando Valley.

Just before 6:50 p.m., the vehicle stopped in a parking lot near Saticoy Street and Tujunga Avenue. The driver parked the vehicle and got out. Several officers approached the driver and tackled him before they took him into custody.

Officers then took the suspect to a hospital for toxicology tests and as a precaution, Green said.

He stayed in the hospital after 9:00 p.m. Thursday and will face several charges after his release.
