Abandoned Motorcycle Causes Fatal Big Rig Accident on Highway 395 in Hesperia

HESPERIA, CA (December 1, 2021) – A man and fourteen cattle were killed in a big rig accident on Highway 395 in Hesperia early Tuesday morning.

The fatal accident happened around 12:30 a.m. on November 30 near Main Street. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a 2012 International semi truck was driving south on the highway when it struck an abandoned motorcycle in the southbound lane of traffic.

The impact caused the International semi to cross over into the northbound lane. It then collided head on with a 2022 Kenworth semi truck carrying 32 cattle. The Kenworth rolled over, trapping the driver inside.

First responders pronounced a male individual dead at the scene.

A total of 14 cattle also died. Meanwhile, eight of the cattle survived and were rescued from the trailer with the assistance of several local ranchers, and 10 escaped into the desert.

The crash is still under investigation. Authorities asked anyone with further information to contact Deputy T. Rogoff at the Hesperia Station.

We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
