Malik Blakeney Killed in Accident on Temperance Avenue and North Avenue [Fresno County, CA]

26-Year-Old Malik Blakeney Dies after Crashing into Tractor-Trailer Hauling Lemons in Fresno County

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (January 11, 2022) – Malik Blakeney died in an accident in Fresno County on Monday night.
 
The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on January 10 at Temperance Avenue and North Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 26-year-old Fresno man was driving a sedan northbound on Temperance Avenue. At the same time, a tractor-trailer hauling lemons was heading westbound on North Avenue at 45 mph.
 
Blakeney did not stop at a stop sign in the intersection and collided into the path of the tractor-trailer. The impact of the crash launched the sedan into a nearby orchard and caused the truck to spill the lemons it was hauling.
 
First responders pronounced Blakeney dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries.
 
It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs was a factor in this collision, pending toxicology results. Further investigation is underway.
