Motorcyclist Luis Romero Dies in Accident on Highway 128 in Napa
NAPA, CA (March 26, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 128 on March 21.
Napa County Coroner’s office identified the motorcyclist at 29-year-old Luis Daniel Romero of Rio Linda.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened on Highway 128 just north of Wragg Canyon Road at approximately 5:30 PM. Romero drifted over the solid double yellow lines. As a result, the motorcycle sideswiped a pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Tru Knudsen of Vacaville and an SUV driven by 32-year-old Jacqueline Cochran of Vacaville.
Romero died at the scene.
Passengers on the motorcycle and in one of the vehicles reported minor injuries.
Both Romero and his passenger, 31-year-old Martha Velasquez of Rio Linda, wore helmets. However, police transported Velasquez in a REACH helicopter to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Officials treated the 14-year-old passenger in the SUV for minor injuries at Kaiser hospital in Vacaville.
Highway 128 closed in both directions for about 90 minutes for the CHP investigation. However, neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be collision factors.
