Luis Miramontes-Marquez Involved in Deadly Pedestrian Accident on 8 Freeway near Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area

 
EL CENTRO, CA (August 8, 2022) — Luis Alonso Miramontes-Marquez was involved in Friday’s fatal pedestrian accident on the 8 Freeway near the Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 1:23 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 57-year-old man entered the freeway’s westbound lanes from the right shoulder and meandered into the path of an oncoming box truck.
 
The driver, 27-year-old Miramontes-Marquez, subsequently struck the unidentified victim in the roadway.
 
Shortly after, authorities and the Imperial County coroner’s office responded to the scene after the man succumbed to his injuries.
 
At this time, authorities have not released the reason for the accident and the victim’s name. However, we will update this report once we receive more information. If anyone has seen this accident, please call the California Highway Patrol.
