Luis Cuara Dies in Anaheim DUI Multi-Car Crash
ANAHEIM, CA (December 9, 2021) — A man died in a DUI car accident on Ball Road and Magnolia Avenue on Sunday, December 5.
Police identified the victim as 49-year-old Luis V. Cuara, a Los Angeles resident, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
According to Anaheim Police, the fatal three-car crash happened at 1:53 a.m. at the intersection of West Ball Road and South Magnolia Avenue.
A westbound black Nissan Murano on Ball Road failed to stop at a red light at the Magnolia Avenue intersection. The Nissan struck a black 2016 Honda Accord occupied by four men – three 30-year-old men and Cuara, who was a rear seat passenger.
Cuara died at the scene, according to police.
The three other people in the Honda where rushed to hospitals with minor injuries. A person trapped in one of the vehicles had to be freed by firefighters, authorities said.
One of the vehicles then struck a Toyota Camry, which had stopped at the red light facing Magnolia Avenue. No one inside that vehicle was injured.
Police arrested the Murano driver, an Anaheim resident, on suspicion of drunken driving. However, his condition was not immediately known.
