Luis Carlos Dies in Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 65 near Tea Pot Dome

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (November 9, 2021) Luis Carlos died in a wrong-way accident on Highway 65 near Teapot Dome Saturday night.
 
According to Porterville Police, the two-vehicle crash happened around 9:30 p.m. For possible DUI reasons, 53-year-old Carlos began driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 65.
 
Subsequently, Carlos’ black GMC Canyon collided with an oncoming white Dodge Caravan, resulting in a head-on collision.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, Carlos, of Bakersfield, suffered fatal injuries. Meanwhile, paramedics brought his passenger to Kaweah Health for medical treatment.
 
As for the occupants in the Dodge, they suffered minor injuries and sought care at Sierra View District Hospital.
 
At this time, officers believe alcohol played a factor since they found both full and empty beer cans inside Carlos’ pickup. However, an ongoing investigation continues. Anyone with more information should call the Porterville Police at 559-782-7400.
