Lorayna Gonsalves Detained, Police Chase Accident in Downtown Chico
CHICO, CA (September 25, 2023) — Lorayna Gonsalves faces multiple charges following Friday’s police chase accident in downtown Chico.
According to Chico police officers, the incident happened around 11:00 a.m. Friday. For unknown reasons, 38-year-old Gonsalves was driving recklessly before police began pursuing her.
During the chase, she struck at least three cars and nearly hit several pedestrians. Soon after deploying spike strips and hitting her vehicle with a patrol car, police were able to trap her.
She subsequently surrendered to police officers.
During the incident, one officer suffered minor injuries but no one else reported any injury.
At this time, Gonsalves remains incarcerated at Butte County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, evading police, hit-and-run, and other charges.
