Juan Herrera-Garcia Arrested in Yucca Valley DUI Crash, Lillian Esquibel and Passenger Seriously Injured

 
YUCCA VALLEY, CA (August 24, 2021) – Lillian Esquibel and her passenger sustained injuries in a DUI accident in Yucca Valley Wednesday last week.
 
The accident happened just before 9:00 a.m. on August 18, on Highway 62 at Mohawk Trail. According to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Juan Herrera-Garcia of Yucca Valley was driving a 2001 Ford F350 when he ran a red light at the intersection. He then collided into the passenger side of a 2005 Acura sedan that was heading south through a green light.
 
Esquibel, a 19-year-old Yucca Valley resident and the one driving the Acura, sustained injury to her left leg. Her 17-year-old female juvenile passenger suffered major injuries.
 
Paramedics transported the passenger to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
 
Deputies determined Herrera-Garcia was driving under the influence of alcohol. They arrested him for DUI causing bodily injury and booked him into the Morongo Basin Jail at $100,000 bail.
 
Further investigation is underway.
