Leon Parks Jr. Dies after Car Crashes into Tree at North Rose Avenue and Cesar Chavez Drive
OXNARD, CA (February 2, 2021) – Officials released the identity of a man killed Wednesday in a car accident in Oxnard which sent three others to the hospital.
The accident happened around 7:40 a.m. in the area of North Rose Avenue and Cesar Chavez Drive, police said.
71-year-old Leon Parks Jr. of Oxnard died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said Friday.
Parks was a passenger in a 2004 Kia Rio which, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and crashed into a tree. The impact ejected Parks from the vehicle and caused him fatal injuries, according to Oxnard police.
Three other occupants, a 32-year-old male driver, a 21-year-old female passenger and a 36-year-old male passenger – all from Oxnard – had to be rescued from the vehicle by first responders. All three were transported to local hospitals where they remained in critical but stable condition Friday, traffic investigators said.
An initial investigation found speed may have been a factor in the crash, which remains ongoing.
