Leodegario Gonzalez Dies in Solo-Car Crash on Highway 99 Off-Ramp at Whitmore Avenue

 
CERES, CA (October 27, 2021) — Leodegario Mendez Gonzalez died in a solo-car accident on the Highway 99 off-ramp at Whitmore Avenue Sunday afternoon.
 
According to Ceres police, the single-vehicle accident happened around 1:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, 46-year-old Gonzalez stepped out of his truck at a KFC drive-thru. Subsequently, his pickup began to roll forward and crashed into the corner of the KFC.
 
Following the crash at the corner, the pickup truck accelerated out of the drive-thru and continued onto the off-ramp traveling in the wrong direction until it struck a wall on the Highway 99 off-ramp.
 
Soon after, officers and paramedics responded to find Gonzalez’s leg trapped in the door of his truck. He died shortly after.
 
At this time, investigators have no information if DUI played a factor. However, an ongoing investigation continues.
