23-Year-Old Lavelle Hayes Dies after Collision with Patrol Car on Amargosa Road near Tawney Ridge Lane

 
VICTORVILLE, CA (April 13, 2021)Lavelle Hayes died in a two-vehicle accident in Victorville Sunday evening, April 11.
 
The accident happened around 9:34 p.m. on Amargosa Road near Tawney Ridge Lane. The 23-year-old Victorville man was driving in the area when a patrol car slammed into his vehicle at the intersection.
 
The marked patrol car was driving northbound on Amargosa Road responding to an incident. Witnesses at the scene said it did not have lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.
 
Arriving units pronounced Hayes dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the deputy in the patrol car suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics took him to a hospital for proper treatment.
 
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident. They asked anyone with further information to contact Deputy D. Caudle at (760) 947-1500 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 956-5001.
