Larry Voit Dies in Airplane Crash at Navy Way in Port of Los Angeles

 
SAN PEDRO, CA (February 22, 2021) — Larry Voit was killed in an airplane accident at Navy Way in the Port of Los Angeles Friday afternoon.
 
According to officials, the fatal crash happened around 12:00 p.m. Upon receiving information about a crash, the Los Angeles Fire Department thought that a trapped vehicle had two patients inside. However, upon arriving at an isolated area of the Port of Los Angeles, they learned otherwise.
 
At the scene, officials determined that a single-engine airplane had crashed into a big rig.
 
In their investigation, authorities discovered that the single-engine Piper PA-32 had just left Torrance around 11:35 a.m. Its intended destination, however, remains unclear.
 
Under unknown circumstances, the plane smashed into a concrete barrier at the port and clipped a big rig.
 
Unfortunately, 53-year-old Voit, the pilot of the aircraft, died in the accident. The unidentified driver of the big rig suffered serious injuries in the crash. Shortly after, paramedics transported the man in his 30s to a hospital for treatment.
 
During cleanup, officials found a small amount of fuel that had spilled onto the ground, which firefighters secured to prevent further permeating.
 
At this time, the cause of the accident remains unclear. However, the National Transportation Safety Board plans to investigate this crash further.
