Speeding Leads to Fiery Accident on Highway 99 near Laguna Boulevard in Elk Grove

 
ELK GROVE, CA (January 18, 2022) – Officers closed several lanes following a fiery accident on Highway 99 on January 16.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Laguna Boulevard at approximately 5:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, a silver Hyundai was traveling at a high speed prior to the crash. Subsequently, it hit a minivan. The impact caused the drivers to lose control of their vehicles and collide with the highway center divider. Then, the minivan caught fire as the Hyundai flipped over in the lanes. The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene.
 
As a result, officers closed the No. 3 and 4 lanes of the highway while they cleared the scene.
 
As of now, officials are still investigating the case.
