Ken Lancaster Dies in Plane Crash on Seminole Drive near Columbia Airport

 
COLUMBIA, CA (September 7, 2022) — A Cal Fire air tanker pilot and U.S. Air Force veteran identified as Ken Lancaster died in a plane crash.
 
Lancaster reportedly flew his personal single-engine Barnow Barry Vari EZE aircraft at around 12:10 p.m. on Monday, September 5. Then, for unknown reasons, it crashed while trying to land at Columbia Airport.
 
The plane went down behind a home at the end of Seminole Drive, about a half-mile north of the runway at Columbia Airport. Several emergency responders arrived at the scene of the incident.
 
According to Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson, Ashley Boujikian, Lancaster, who is the lone occupant of the plane, died in the crash.
 
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board handle the investigation of the crash.
