Bicyclist Hit, Injured by School Bus near Sacramento Avenue in Chico
CHICO, CA (October 2, 2024) — A juvenile bicyclist was hit and injured by a school bus near Sacramento Avenue and Cedar Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicycle accident happened around 11:45 a.m. Monday. After a school bus driver completed the protocol check of the railroad track, the bus proceeded forward. However, a juvenile on a bike was nearly 90 percent across the crosswalk when the front of the bus struck the cyclist’s rear tire. As a result, the juvenile was ejected off the bike and suffered minor injuries.
Fortunately, two children on the bus and the bus driver escaped harm. After the crash, CHP officers responded to the scene to clear the road and investigate.
Authorities have not yet ascertained the leading cause of the accident; however, they will investigate further.
