Police Pursuit of Stolen Car Ends in Crash on 15 Freeway in Mira Mesa

 
MIRA MESA, CA (November 11, 2021) – Authorities arrested a juvenile driver of a stolen car after a police pursuit that ended in a crash on 15 Freeway in Mira Mesa Wednesday morning.
 
Around 7:15 a.m. on November 10, someone in Pacific Beach reported finding their 2018 GMC Terrain missing. Police were notified that a GPS system showed the vehicle stopped on Reagan Road near Mira Mesa High School.
 
A police officer observed the vehicle driving on Marbury Avenue near Hillery Drive and began to follow it. The driver ran a red light and headed east toward the freeway at a high rate of speed before the vehicle crashed just before 8:30 a.m.
 
Police arrested the male juvenile suspect and took him into custody.
 
A female passenger in the car sustained minor injuries. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital for treatment.
 
Crews closed the off-ramp of 15 Freeway at Hillery Drive for about 30 minutes while they cleared the wreckage.
 
The San Diego Police Department is investigating the incident.
