13-Year-Old Skateboarder Justin Nartea Dies after Struck by Minivan in Antioch

 
ANTIOCH, CA (June 15, 2022) – Justin Nartea was hit and killed by a minivan in Antioch on Saturday evening, June 11.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:55 p.m. in the area of Dallas Ranch Road and Prewett Ranch Drive. According to the Antioch Police Department, the minivan was traveling in northbound lanes of Dallas Ranch Road when Nartea, who was riding a skateboard, crossed the roadway outside of a crosswalk.
 
The minivan then struck him at the intersection.
 
Officers arrived to find Nartea suffering from significant injuries.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, Nartea died at the scene. He was a 13-year-old Antioch resident, according to the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office.
 
The minivan’s driver and other witnesses remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
