Two Men Die in Crash on 5 Freeway Involving Sacramento Police Detective

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (December 6, 2022) – Juan Carlos Enriquez Rodriguez and Lionel Enriquez Rodriguez died in a traffic accident involving a police detective in Sacramento on Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on December 6, along the southbound 5 Freeway near Sutterville Road. According to the CHP, a white Dodge pickup truck had pulled over to the side of the road, possibly had ran out of gas. A maroon Toyota SUV pulled over to help.
 
As the two men were working on putting gas inside the vehicle, the detective driving an unmarked black Ford Fusion struck the left rear-end of the Dodge and then hit the two men.
 
One of them died at the scene. The other died at the hospital.
 
Juan Carlos was 33 years old from Sacramento, while Lionel was a 32-year-old Simi Valley resident. The victims were brothers, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
Meanwhile, the detective involved was not injured in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating this fatal crash.
