Bicyclist Juan Morales Dies in Turlock Hit-and-Run Crash, Francisco Castellon-Gonzalez Arrested

 
TURLOCK, CA (May 5, 2021) – Juan Morales was killed in a hit-and-run early Monday morning on Lander Avenue in Turlock.
 
The fatal incident happened around 12:37 a.m. on May 3, near Castor Street. According to the Turlock Police Department, Morales was riding his bicycle when a white GMC pickup truck hit him.
 
The 50-year-old Turlock man sustained several spinal fractures and multiple fractures throughout his body. His skull was also crushed. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital, where he later died.
 
The GMC did not stop but bystanders followed the vehicle. The suspect driver continued driving out into the county until he crashed on Crows Landing Road.
 
The suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Francisco Javier Castellon-Gonzalez, agreed to come into the Turlock Police Department to give a statement. Finally, police detained and booked Castellon-Gonzalez at the Stanislaus County Jail Monday night.
 
Investigators charged Castellon-Gonzalez of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run without bail. An investigation is ongoing.
 
The family created a GoFundMe account for his funeral expenses.
