Juan Morales Injured, Female Passenger Killed in Big Rig Accident on Highway 43

 
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 30, 2021) — A driver, Juan Mendoza Morales, suffered injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Monday, April 26.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1997 Ford driven by Morales traveled south on Highway 43, just across the border in Tulare County. Then the vehicle drifted into the northbound lanes and slammed into two big rigs.
 
The Freightliner overturned on its side and jack-knifed. The Ford’s passenger died on the scene of the incident upon impact. Medics rushed the driver to the hospital with major injuries.
 
Both drivers of the commercial vehicles, namely Gilberto Ochoa, and Victor Manuel Parra, did not sustain any injuries.
 
Officers have not yet determined if alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the collision.
 
The investigation is still underway.
