Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident on 215 Freeway near Center Street Identified
RIVERSIDE, CA (March 15, 2021) – Authorities Sunday named the man who was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday morning in Riverside.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified him as 42-year-old Juan Gonzalez of Santa Ana.
According to the CHP, the accident happened around 11:45 a.m., March 13 on southbound 215 Freeway near Center Street.
Gonzalez was walking barefoot along the right shoulder. He was trying to run into traffic when a vehicle struck him near the center divider. The impact caused him fatal injuries and he died at the scene.
CHP officials are still trying to determine whether speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
