Coroner Identifies 22-Year-Old Man as Fatal Victim of DUI Crash in Newark

 
NEWARK, CA (January 11, 2022) – Juan Gonzalez-Ramirez died in a DUI car crash in Newark, late Sunday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:20 p.m. on January 9 at Saint Isabel Avenue and Cedar Boulevard. According to the CHP, a vehicle carrying four people slammed into an unoccupied parked car.
 
Alameda County Fire Department firefighters responded to the scene and found Gonzalez-Ramirez unresponsive. They rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
Gonzalez-Ramirez was 22 years old, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Office.
 
The other three people in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The driver, a 24-year-old Newark resident, was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita jail. A records check Monday evening did not list him in custody.
